NEW RESONANT is a performing arts collective that traverses traditional Japanese performing arts, Japanese instruments, contemporary dance, and spatial design.

Its inaugural performance presents sanhon no yubi, inspired by Tsuchigumo, and mousu, inspired by Sanbaso and Ayatsuri Sanbaso.

Drawing from these two classical sources inherited through Japanese performing arts, the works are reconstructed through Japanese instruments, Nagauta music, and contemporary dance.

The production brings together leading practitioners of traditional performing arts and dancers active in contemporary scenes, including D.LEAGUE.

Set within the unique atmosphere of Kita Noh Theatre, the project explores new possibilities for Japanese performing arts.

・SANHON NO YUBI
A new stage work inspired by the Noh and Kabuki repertoire Tsuchigumo.

Through Japanese instruments, Nagauta, and physical expression, it explores fear of the unknown and the hidden depths of the human psyche.

・MOUSU
A new stage work inspired by the ritual performance Sanbaso and the Kabuki dance Ayatsuri Sanbaso.

It reinterprets cycles of life, prayer, and celebration through contemporary movement and music.

ABOUT NEW RESONANT

NEW RESONANT is a performing arts collective dedicated to reconstructing the structures and physicality of traditional Japanese performing arts through contemporary expression.

Drawing from Kagura, Noh, Kabuki, and Nagauta, the collective creates stage works that integrate Japanese instruments, contemporary dance, video, and spatial design.

Rather than merely quoting tradition, NEW RESONANT excavates the sensations and structures embedded within classical arts, seeking to reawaken them as living performing arts of the present.
